I wanted to live happily ever after
I wanted to be that fairytale princess
I wanted a fairy God mother
Young girls grow up
Some find the road that leads to a field of dreams
I struggled to find a path that lead to a river of tears
For so long I never understood the complexities of life
Why wasn’t I like other girls?
Why weren’t my dreams coming true?
Why did I grow up feeling like I was broken?
I was once a child
I was carefree
I was innocent
I was beautiful
Then one day my world
Came crashing down on me
Such a tender age to be told
You are not normal
We are not sure what is wrong with you?
What?!
So much confusion within me
I was never told why I was born this way
I was 12….
So young…
So vulnerable….
In a world so different
Not comfortable in my own skin
I had no idea why?
Then began the quest to find my place
Where do people like me belong?
Finding acceptance became my dream
I wanted to be accepted so badly
I walked around faceless and empty
The world can be a cruel and harsh reality
And we are not always prepared
This is all part of the journey
Life is a journey, not a destination
It does not come with a road map
There is always a story waiting to be told
We just have to be willing to open up that book
We have to be willing to read that first sentence
And have faith that one day we will understand
“Though I walk through the valley and
The shadow of death
I shall fear no evil
For the Lord God will be with me”
